How to apply for summer classes at UNLV? ›

Summer enrollment is open to degree and non-degree seeking students. Undergraduate degree seeking students should contact Undergraduate Admissions prior to filing an application. All degree seeking students, especially freshmen, should meet with an academic advisor from the department in which they plan to major.

A student may take up to 7 credits in a five-week session provided both courses (one 3-credit and one 4-credit course) run the full five weeks. One credit in one week, 2 credits in two weeks, and 3 credits in three weeks are considered full course loads.

Fully online courses at UNLV deliver all instruction, discussion, and learning activities entirely online via a learning management system such as Blackboard, Canvas, or Kannu. They may be developed for an individual course or as a master course.

To be considered a resident for tuition purposes, you must show that you are financially independent through filing your own taxes in the state of Nevada as well as submitting other documents asked for in the residency category for which you are applying.

The condensed schedule of summer classes may be challenging. Since summer classes are often shorter than fall and spring classes, you may find that you have less time to absorb material and prepare for tests and exams. For some students, this may not feel like a problem, but for others, it may feel stressful.

Classes at UNLV range from one to five credits. A full-time student carries a minimum of 12 credits per semester. A course or minimum test score required prior to entrance into another course. For example, there is a minimum ACT/SAT test score requirement a student must achieve in order to enroll in ENG 101.

Consent Required to Enroll

Some courses require instructor or department consent in order to enroll. This consent must be obtained and entered into the system prior to enrollment. Contact the appropriate authority (instructor or department) in order to obtain the permission.

Just check your registration date in myWSU and register early for best selection. Contact the Admissions Office and request your admission to be back-dated to Summer Session. After your admission has been back-dated, check your registration date in myWSU.

Registration for Current Students

You'll first need to meet with your faculty advisor to review your proposed summer and fall schedule and obtain your pin number for registration. Check out the check list for a step-by-step guide, or go directly to myWCU if you already have your pin number in hand.

It is the student's responsibility to plan ahead and ensure that required deadlines are met. Current WWU students register through MyWestern -> Web4U (opens in new tab) . This is the same method of registration that is used for all other WWU courses.
