Bike Ride along Leon Creek Greenway

Date: Mon May 20, 2013 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
This will be an easy bike ride on the paved hike bike trail running along scenic Leon Creek. We will ride the section from Ingram Rd. to O.P. Schnabel Park and back. It will take about an hour to an hour and a half depending on our pace. The entire route is paved and is suitable for any type of bike. Helmets are mandatory.

The terrain is not tremendously difficult overall, but there are several steep spots and some pretty good elevation changes for around here. Bring plenty of water and some good hiking shoes.

How about giving windsurfing a try Windsurfing is a cool sport that is environmentally friendly and keeps you close to the water. Enjoy an adventure filled day and then afterwards go to the Oasis for free Salsa music and great views Scott Johnson has 16 years experience and is certified by the Windsurfing Instructors of America. Call Scott with questions at 512 389 2250 O H Safety is emphasized and the student learns the basics of wind theory, rigging, balance, proper positioning and making turns by tacking. Students must know how to swim and be able to hold their breath under water for 5 seconds. Minimum age is 12 years. The class is held at Bob Wentz Park at Windy Point on Lake Travis. The park is located 2 miles beyond the Oasis Restaurant on Comanche Trail.

Join us at Texas Tubes in New Braunfels for a moonlight tubing trip on the Comal River. These are usually our biggest events of the summer. We will start the cookout at 6:00 PM, and get on the river about 9:00 PM. We should be done by about 11:00 PM, give or take. The float usually takes a couple of hours depending on the river flow rate. After the float we will probably go to Phoenix Saloon. It is only a few blocks from Texas Tubes.

The terrain is not tremendously difficult overall, but there are several steep spots and some pretty good elevation changes for around here. On the map below, we will be doing the Hillview natural and Red Oak natural trails counter clockwise. Wear good hiking shoes. I will have fresh Ionized Water from Next Generation Water available for you to fill your water bottle. This is a kid friendly event, but children should be old enough to complete the hike on their own. Dogs are welcome too, but please keep them leashed and bring what you need to clean up after them.

This trip is confirmed for the Amazing Adventure to Northen Spain. We will start in Madrid, then start the walk in Sarria for several days until we reach Santiago de Compostela. After the Pilgrim s mass and rituals we are going to spend a couple of days in Galicia to explore Muxia La Virgen de La Barca Shrine and Finisterre World s End . Then we will head to Pamplona to enjoy the last weekend of the Fiestas de San Fermin. We will explore Roncesvalle, Logrono, Sto. Domingo de la Calzada, Atapuerca and Burgos and back to Madrid for some Flamenco and shopping.

New Mexico Road Trip

This is for road trip enthusiasts who are looking for an adventure and letting the road lead us to where it may. Leaving August 10 at 8 a.m. and heading west to New Mexico. We will explore some of the beautiful landscapes in the southern and northern mountain regions in New Mexico. A few of the highlights are Lookout Mountain in Lincoln National Forest near Ruidoso, a hike to Williams Lake in Carson National Forest near Wheeler Peak, East Fork Red River in Carson National Forest, Ceremonial Cave in Bandelier National Monument, Tsankawi Ruin in Bandelier National Monument, and many others that we may encounter along the way. We will return August 18.
