Event Description

**LOCATION CHANGE** - Due to a burn ban being put into effect in Kendall County on 11/27 the bonfire had to be moved to another county. It is now going to be at Don's Fish Camp on the San Marcos River in Martindale.

**Feel free to share and/or copy & post this event elsewhere, as well as send out as many invites as you wish.**

Saturday, December 2nd – Don's Fish Camp - 105 Nelle Ln, Martindale, TX 78655

This bonfire and campout on the San Marcos River will be benefiting Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts of Burners Without Borders - Corpus Christi (BWBCC) ( They are an all-volunteer non-profit organization, and 100% of money donated to them will go directly towards their Harvey recovery efforts in the Aransas Pass, Rockport, Ingleside, and Port Aransas areas. To see what they’ve been up to since Harvey made his uninvited visit, scroll down their FaceBook page and check out this video:

Burners Without Borders ( is an international disaster relief organization. Their Mission: BWB promotes activities around the globe that support a community's inherent capacity to thrive by encouraging innovative approaches to disaster relief and grassroots initiatives that make a positive impact.

BWBCC volunteers have been working non-stop ever since Harvey slammed into the Texas coast on August 25th. They have a command center set up in Aransas Pass, and have been coordinating and feeding volunteers for various demolition and reconstruction projects. They have done several annual beach cleanups and other great things in the CC area for the last five years, and are committed to assisting with Harvey recovery efforts for the long haul. As of September 27th they have already logged almost 3,000 volunteer hours towards Harvey recovery projects.

When this bonfire happens, it will have been over 3 months since Harvey. Most people not in immediately affected areas will have largely forgotten about what those in devastated areas are going through, and donations will have slowed to a trickle. However, the recovery process for this disaster will take a long time. What they need most are volunteers to roll up their sleeves and work, as well as monetary donations. If you would like to volunteer, please contact them through their Facebook page.

The fee for this event is $20, and includes camping for anyone who would like to stay overnight. Please bring cash.100% of money raised will go towards Harvey recovery efforts. When you arrive, pay and get your wristband at the registration table down at the bonfire site by the river. There will also be a donation box if you would like to contribute more. BWBCC is also asking for dry food items to stock their command center in Aransas Pass where they are feeding volunteers. And, they are conducting a toy drive and are accepting new unwrapped toys.

If you would like to make an extra donation directly to BWBCC, you can do so via PayPal with the email address bwbcc0 at gmail dot com, or you can donate online via Burning Man Project at

We are also requesting that everyone bring at least one bundle of firewood. More is better. In addition to the bonfire, there will be several smaller fires for grilling, roasting marshmallows, and keeping warm away from the bonfire. No wood with nails please.

This event is BYO beverages and food. There are no BBQ grills at this location, so if you have one you can bring that would be great. It is highly recommended that you bring a camp chair.

No styrofoam and ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS. If you are planning on bringing wine or liquor that is in a glass bottle, PLEASE transfer it to a plastic or metal container before you arrive.

Camping spots will be first-come, first-served. The bonfire site is all gravel, but it is surrounded by grassy areas that are good for tents. This is primitive camping. There is space for RV's, but no hookups.

Some of us will be camping there on Friday night as well if you want to join us.

Feel free to arrive anytime on Saturday, if not Friday night. We’ll light the bonfire around sunset on Saturday. It will not be just one giant pile of wood that is torched all at once, instead we will build it up throughout the evening. It will probably be at its peak around 9:00 or 10:00 PM, but will burn all night.

Dogs allowed on a leash only. Clean up after them. If your dog does not get along with other dogs, please do not bring it.

There will be a group kayak trip led by A Good Paddling and Adventure ( If you would like to do the kayak trip, please arrive by 9:30 AM. The trip will be from Sewell Park in San Marcos to the campground. Don's Fish Camp does not rent kayaks, you will need to have your own. The shuttle fee is $15.
